What I like about Emerson Community Charter Middle School
I have worked at 5 LAUSD schools and have seen lots of things. At Emerson, the noticings that really impress me are:
1. The dedication and ownership of teachers towards their school
2. The close working environments that teachers share in Departments, Grade Levels, and Academies
3. The relative uniformity of dress at school that lets me know that a child at Emerson is ours and not an interloper from outside
4. The investment of local funds in the whole child, particularly in the PSA (Attendance Counselor) and PSW (Psychiatric Social Worker).
5. The unique Academy Days and extracurricular activities which allow kids to be kids and find joy in school
6. The overwhelming percentage of students who are kind
7. The willingness of parents and students to follow the maxim "If you see something, say something."
